I've had so many amazing little ones in my studio already this year !
And so many more on the books!
Newborn photography has been a passion of mine for almost 5 years now.
I really don't think I'd be happier in any other career then where I am right now.
Working with and getting to know each family is such a blessing!
Usually photos only show the rainbow side of a session.
1 year sessions can start off kind of rocky. A new place, a new face, and bright lights.
Am I crying? Laughing? Only mama and I know the truth ;)
The tears may flow ....
and sometimes a break is needed to snuggle a luvie for comfort.
And other times you need cake!!
And sometimes it's just not enough...
But in the end this little one rocked his session even with some tears.
I have so many mama's that see my work and ask ... what if my baby doesn't sleep? It's a legit worry. Shhhh most time mama we get that sleepy smile and if not we fake it and no one knows any different ;)
All of my clients receive a prep guide. It's my secret recipe for sleepy babies. The step help baby snooze longer which not only allows us to capture those sleepy images but also keeps session times shorter...dad's appreciate that :)
BUT ... if for some reason baby is more curious than what we plan for mam don't worry we get those shots! Sometimes "eyes wide open" is the best shot you can have!
Plus wraps and snuggles always help keep baby content as well, even if they are awake.
annnnd NOTHING beats snuggling with mommy and daddy!
Are you expecting? Is a friend? Mention this blog title and SAVE $50 when you book a session $100 when you book a session. Have a friend who is DON"T shhhh and tell them all about this deal!
Smiles for days! This little prince was smiley from the minute he walked in the door till he got out of the tub.
I think so many mom's fear their little one will not cooperate for their photo session. My tricks typically win over those who show signs of unhappiness when they arrive.
Cake smashes and bubble baths are DEFINITELY one of those tricks!
Although on rare occasion, when a little one is just not in the mood for photos, we break up the session. This rarely happens and does not require an extra fee. I deem these as acts of nature ;) Toddlers are unpredictable and THAT'S OK! That's what makes them so fun!
When you're born 5 weeks early you have an uphill battle from day one. I first photographed this amazing little guy at 5 weeks old and just over 5 lbs.
He has since grown from that itty bitty 5+lbs to 10lbs at his 3 months session. We even pulled out some newborn outfits to fit this sweet little one.
But then the most amazing thing happened during this 3 month session....
He fell asleep and we were able to sneak some sweet sleepy images!
During a 3 year milestone session we giggle we laugh....
We dress up and we snuggle our favorite lovies!
But most of all we play, we dance, we have fun!
Because the moments we want to remember are the ones where they are just happy being themselves.
It's worth it, I'm worth it. All the hard work that goes into a session is totally worth it. Not only does the "off camera" work of a photographer include the boring stuff like taxes, marketing, gear maintenance, insurance, image storage, etc. (I could go on for hours) it also includes lots of things I LOVE too and every aspect is worth it.
I LOVE planning sessions. I met with a client the other day and the excitement was remarkable. From planning colors, to outfits, to locations; I'm not sure who is more excited for this session to take place. I even enjoy the time spent before and after a clients planning meeting visualizing and nit picking the details of their session.
I absolutely LOVE the session. This is the work the client gets to see. I adore bringing families into my studio, working with them on poses, fixing hair when needed, providing outfits when desired, and so much more. A recent client mentioned how easy it was to prepare for the session as all they had to do was provide themselves and a few simple things. Even when she forgot headbands for her older girls, she didn't need them. You should see my collection!
I have a LOVE/HATE relationship with editing. When I edit newborns, smiley babies, mommy and child images, and images like below my excitement is over the top but the time it takes to accomplish this, honestly, can get insane! I'm guilty of using the TV as a babysitter as I edit the hours away and guilty of staying up until a early morning hour. Then when I'm getting ready to save a session, after spending HOURS to create it just perfect, and your computer fails - that's the WORST! The love comes from the final product, the slideshow I prepare, and the gallery I create. The anticipation I feel when I send that email "Hey mama!! Your images are ready! When is a good time to stop in to see them?" it's indescribable. It's butterflies EVERY time!
Which leads me to....
I LOOVE LOOOVE LOOOOVE the reveal. To see the raw emotion with parents is something I will never get tired of. It literally takes my breath away. There are more times then not mom AND I end up in tears. It's where the sweat, back aches, hard work, TV babysitter, long nights, headaches, time, education, and planning all come to fruit.
If someone would have told me when I started this career almost 4 years ago that so much time and love could go into one session I would have NEVER believed them. I adore my clients and I cherish my job. I am so blessed to be able to do what I love and still be home with my babies. It's SO worth it!
